JMOD/JSDF implemented its first capacity building project for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF). In this project, Instructors of JGSDF Ordnance School shared their knowledge with the RSIPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD), which is in charge of Unexploded ordnance (UXO) and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) disposal in Solomon Islands. JGSDF provided information about former Imperial Japanese military ammunition and contributed to raising awareness and dissemination information to the general public on UXO and ERW.
Through this project, we hope to contribute to the improvement of the RSIPF EODD UXO disposal capability and the safe and secure performance of its duties. The ultimate aim being to limit the number of accidents caused by UXO and ERW among the people of Solomon Islands.
JMOD/JSDF will continue to promote defense cooperation with Solomon Islands and collaborate on regional peace and stability together.
