JMOD/JSDF has been providing capacity building assistance for the RCAF in the field of PKO (engineering) since 2013, and 10 years have passed since the collaboration started.
In this year’s project, JMOD/JSDF trained 18 RCAF officials as grader operators as well as instructors to enable the RCAF to continue its deployment of an engineering unit to UN PKO missions.
This year’s project has been registered as one of the events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia. In this regard, our activities greatly contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries.
During the project, as a first time, a WPS seminar was conducted by a JGSDF officer from Bureau of Defense Policy, which deepened participants' understanding on importance of women’s participation and reflecting gender perspective in PKO.
Through this program, Japan will continue to further promote defense cooperation with Cambodia and cooperate for international peace and security together.
