State Minister Oniki received a courtesy call from General Van Ovost, Commanding General, USTRANSCOM

On December 18th, State Minister Oniki received a courtesy call from General Van Ovost, visiting the Ministry of Defense for the first time after she was sworn in as Commander of U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). State Minister Oniki welcomed General Van Ovost’s visit to Japan, and they discussed regional security situation including consecutive ballistic missile launches by DPRK on 17 and 18 December, as well as the importance of transportation capability in defense and security realm, and also confirmed that they strive to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation through efforts such as participation in joint exercises.
