From 24 to 27 October, the JMOD/JSDF conducted a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) cooperation project with the Kemhan/TNI. Representatives from the Japan Joint Staff, Ground Staff Office and the Northeastern Army Headquarters shared their knowledge on Japan's disaster preparedness, and lessons learned on HA/DR response. This included cooperation procedures between the JMOD/JSDF and local governments, as well as giving an outline of the HA/DR exercise "MICHINOKU Alert" planned by the NEAHQs, JGSDF in 2024. This contributed to strengthening the disaster response capabilities of the Kemhan and TNI personnel. In addition, the Director for International Cooperation on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) conducted a seminar on WPS and deepened participants’ understanding on importance of women’s participation and reflecting gender perspectives in HA/DR activities. Through this program, Japan will continue to promote defense cooperation and exchanges with Indonesia and further strengthen bilateral relations. |
