Director for Defense Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Region, 1 officer from the Indo-Pacific Regional Policy Division (MOD), 1 officer from the Ground Staff Office (JGSDF), 10 members of 43rd Infantry Regiment, 8th Division, Western Army
Instructors dispatched from the JGSDF 43rd Infantry Regiment of Western Army participated in the Japan-Philippines HA/DR Cooperation Project provided technical training and advice to 525th Engineer Combat Battalion, the Philippine Army, during its HA/DR search and rescue exercise. Participants also shared respective insights and experience to enhance HA/DR capability.
In addition, as a part of the program, the Director for International Cooperation on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) held a seminar on the importance of women’s participation and gender perspective in HA/DR operations. Participants then exchanged respective efforts on this topic and further deepened understanding on WPS.
Through this project, Japan will continue to promote defense cooperation and exchanges with Philippines and further strengthen bilateral relations.
