Since 2014, the JMOD/JGSDF has been implementing this project as a way to contribute to the training of Mongolian Army personnel in the field of road construction, a skill that is required for the engineering units to join UN peacekeeping operations.
Since 2021, the JMOD/JGSDF has conducted Phase 3 activities, following Phase 1 (2014-2016) which provided basic road construction training, and Phase 2 (2017-2019) which offered more advanced road construction training, including techniques to build road drainage facilities.
The Phase 3 activities intend to enhance the Mongolian Army’s comprehensive management of all aspects of road construction in the future. In this invitational activity, the JMOD/JGSDF delivered lectures and observations related to construction of road and camp to Mongolian Army Engineering Unit personnel.
As a part of the program, Director for International Cooperation on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) held a WPS seminar and explained the importance of women’s participation and gender perspectives in PKO. Participants then exchanged insights on respective efforts on WPS in PKO, and further deepened understanding on #WPS.
By advancing our defense relationship with the Mongolian Army and by providing an avenue to share our experience and knowledge, this project will further contribute to facilitating cooperation between the two countries.
