Since 2014, the JMOD/JGSDF has been implementing this project as a way to contribute to the training of Mongolian Army personnel in the field of road construction, a skill that is required for the engineering units to join UN peacekeeping operations.

Since 2021, the JMOD/JGSDF has conducted Phase 3 activities, following Phase 1 (2014-2016) which provided basic road construction training, and Phase 2 (2017-2019) which offered more advanced road construction training, including techniques to build road drainage facilities.

In phase 3, the JMOD/JGSDF delivered not only guidance and advice to Mongolian Army instructors to train students in road construction, but also guidance for training in road surveying to enhance the Mongolian Army’s comprehensive management of all aspects of road construction in the future. By advancing our defense relationship with the Mongolian Army and by providing an avenue to share our experience and knowledge, this project will further contribute to facilitating cooperation between the two countries.
