On June 4th, 2023, Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu held a meeting for approximately 25 minutes from 09:40 (local time) with Ukrainian Defense Minister Reznikov.
- Defense Minister Hamada stated that with regard to Russia's aggression to Ukraine, Japan absolutely will not accept such unilateral changes to the status quo by force, and that Japan has been responding resolutely to the aggression standing united with the international community.
- Defense Minister Hamada also directly conveyed to Defense Minister Reznikov that the Ministry of Defense has decided to accept Ukrainian injured soldiers to SDF Central Hospital, to provide around 100 SDF vehicles such as trucks, as well as approximately 30,000 emergency rations.
- Defense Minister Reznikov once again expressed his deep gratitude for the support from Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces.
- Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces will continue to support Ukraine as much as possible in cooperation with the international community.
