From July 13th to 29th, the JMOD/JSDF invited four personnel from the Engineer Battalion of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) to Japan and provided training on the basic maintenance of heavy machinery at the JGSDF Engineer School. This training aims to provide knowledge and hands-on experience to improve the maintenance capabilities of the PNGDF Engineer Battalion, which in times of natural disaster in Papua New Guinea, engages in infrastructure maintenance and relief activities. The training activity was delivered in person for the first time following an online session conducted in March 2021. Lectures and complementary practical training provided by the JGSDF Engineer School instructors/trainers enabled the visiting PNGDF Engineer Battalion personnel to acquire broad knowledge and skills, and contributed to further enhancement of the unit’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief capabilities. |
