On May 24, State Minister of Defense Oniki received a courtesy call from Mr. Zimmer, State Secretary, German Ministry of Defence. Germany has been reinforcing its role in the Indo-Pacific region, and dispatched FGS Bayern to Japan last year for the first time in around 20 years.
They discussed the advancement of defense cooperation and exchanges between Japan and Germany as well as the situation in Ukraine, and confirmed that it is critical for countries sharing common values such as Japan and Germany to work together as a whole in support of Ukraine.
