Protection of Weapons and Other Equipment of the Units of the U.S. Forces and the Armed Forces of Other Foreign Countries

In 2021, based on Article 95-2 of the Self-Defense Forces Law, the JSDF conducted asset protection 22 times in total: 21 times for the U.S. Forces and once for the Australian Defence Force.
JMOD/SDF will continue to strive to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance and elevate the defense cooperation with Australia to a new level.
Article 95-2 allows the JSDF to protect U.S. Forces and other foreign armed forces that are engaged in activities that contribute to the defense of Japan in cooperation with the JSDF from infringement which does not amount to an armed attack.
