2021 Japan-Philippines HA/DR Cooperation Project

 The JMOD/JSDF, represented by the 43rd Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), conducted Japan-Philippines humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) cooperation project with the Philippine Army (PA) 525th Engineer Combat Battalion (525ECB), at the Mandirigtas Training Area.

 During the activity, JGSDF personnel conducted seminars about HA/DR equipment handling and provided practical equipment demonstrations. These training modules will enable such equipment to be efficiently and effectively used by 525ECB personnel during disaster responses. Additionally, Japan observed an HA/DR training exhibition by PA counterparts, and exchanged knowledge and experience gained during respective past HA/DR operations.

 Japan and the Philippines are both natural disaster-prone countries. Activities such as the Japan-Philippines HA/DR cooperation project mutually enhance disaster relief capabilities, thereby enabling both countries to more quickly and effectively respond to variety of disasters in the future.
