On October 12, State Minister Oniki received a courtesy call from Vice Admiral Karl O. Thomas, who assumed the position of the Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet. They confirmed that JMSDF and U.S. Navy will continue to closely work together to maintain and strengthen “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” and further enhance the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
