JMSDF conducted unilateral mine warfare training and a bilateral minesweeping exercise with U.S.Navy in Mutsu Bay, Aomori Prefecture from July 18 to 30. Through various training and exercises, MOD/JSDF is continuously bolstering the Japan-U.S. Alliance capabilities to deter and respond.
It was the 40th minesweeping exercise in Mutsu Bay which has been held since 1964. 14 minesweeper tenders including JS Uraga and JS Bungo and 7 aircraft from JMSDF and minesweeper coastal USS Warrior from U.S. Navy joined this exercise.
