From June 22 to 24, JMSDF submarine JS UZUSHIO and patrol aircraft P-1 conducted bilateral training with U.S. Navy patrol aircraft P-8A in the waters off the Kii Peninsula. They simulated procedures to detect, track and attack the target submarine.
This training has been conducted since JFY1957 and aims to improve tactical skills of JMSDF and interoperability with the U.S. Navy by utilizing actual submarines. MOD/JSDF will bolster the capability of the Japan-U.S. Alliance to deter and respond through these trainings.
