Teleconference between Defense Minister Iwaya and Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Esper

On June 25th, Defense Minister Iwaya held a telephone conference with Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Esper. The summery is as follows.
First, Minister Iwaya expressed his congratulations on Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Esper in his new position. Both sides confirmed that they will work together to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance. Both sides shared their recognition on the importance of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. Both sides confirmed the importance of supporting the full implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions for a complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of all North Korea’s WMD and ballistic missiles of all ranges. Both sides confirmed to work closely together for the steady implementation of the U.S. forces realignment initiatives including the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma to Henoko.
