  1. Since March 2022, MOD/SDF has provided bulletproof vests, protective masks, protective clothing, vehicles, drones, and emergency rations to Ukrainian government, within the parameters of the Three Principles on Transfer of Defense Equipment and Technology based on the Self-Defense Forces Act. In addition, MOD/SDF has accepted Ukrainian injured soldiers to SDF Central Hospital for their rehabilitation.
  2. Based on requests from the Ukrainian government and others, MOD/SDF has decided to support Ukraine in IT and demining fields through participation in “IT Coalition” and “Demining Coalition,” in which some willing nations such as European countries participate. Specific activities will be coordinated with other participating countries, but MOD/SDF is considering to provide educational support to improve Ukrainian Armed Force’s capability, while leveraging the experience which has been accumulated through various international support activities including demining. At this moment, MOD/SDF is not expecting to provide any equipment related to those fields.
  3. We believe participation in both coalitions will broaden the scope of Japanese support for Ukraine and is meaningful from a humanitarian perspective. We also believe this will strengthen the relations with other European nations, as well as NATO and EU.
  4. MOD/SDF will support Ukraine to the fullest extent possible in close cooperation with the international community.
