Telephone Conversation between Defense Minister Kono and Crown Prince Mohammed of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On September 8, 2020, Minister KONO had a telephone conversation with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia.

1. Minister Kono and His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed exchanged views on bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges and current regional security issues. Minister Kono noted the importance of both countries’ continued and strengthened bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges.
2. Minister Kono explained the information gathering activities by the SDF for ensuring the safe navigation of the Japan-related vessels in the Middle East and pointed out the importance of continued close communication for ensuring peace, stability and safe navigation of the vessels in the Middle East.
