On 10 November, Defense Minister Kihara received a courtesy call from General Brown, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. The meeting is part of General Brown’s first overseas trip for mutual visit since becoming Chairmen on 1 October. Defense Minister Kihara welcomed General Brown, and they discussed a wide-range of matters including the security environment surrounding the Japan-U.S. Alliance and initiatives on further strengthening Alliance capabilities to deter and respond based on the outcome of Japan-US Defense Ministerial Meeting in October this year.
