On September 11, Defense Minister Hamada received a courtesy call from General Eric M. Smith, Assistant Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps.
They both confirmed to further strengthen cooperation between JSDF and U.S. Marine Corps for peace and stability in the region amidst an incresingly complex and severe security environment. Moreover, Minister Hamada expressed his expectation on building a solid trusting relationship between JSDF and USMC for strengthening joint response capability.
