On July 14, Defense Minister Hamada received a courtesy call from General Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Defense Minister Hamada awarded “Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun” for General Milley’s significant contribution in strengthening Japan-U.S. Alliance and offered his congratulations. They confirmed the importance of Japan and U.S. roles in this severe and complex security environment. Defense Minister Hamada also showed his expectation that both countries closely cooperate and strive to maintain and strengthen the peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
