On June 1, Minister Hamada had a ministerial meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at MOD. They discussed the regional affairs and reaffirmed their resolve to uphold rule-based international order and Free and Open Indo-Pacific. They also welcomed the progress in strengthening Japan-U.S. Alliance so far and discussed efforts to deter and respond as confirmed in the “2+2” meeting in January.
