Japan-U.S. Defense Ministerial Telephone Conference (summary)

 On March 24, Defense Minister Kishi and Defense Secretary Austin held a telephone conference in light of the ballistic missile launch by North Korea. The summary is as follows.
 The Ministers concurred that a series of ballistic missile launches by North Korea were violation of relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and agreed upon the seriousness of the ICBM-class launch the day before in particular for both countries.
 The Ministers confirmed that Japan and U.S. defense authorities would continue to closely cooperate with each other and to strengthen the Alliance capabilities to deter and respond, and affirmed that advancing close trilateral cooperation among Japan, the United States, and the Republic of Korea is important.
 The Ministers also confirmed that Japan and the U.S. would closely cooperate in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
