On April 8, JS Akebono of the JMSDF conducted multilateral exercise to the west of Sumatra in Indian Ocean with HMAS Anzac, HMAS Sirius, and HMCS Calgary, maintaining and strengthening the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” Vision.
The western sea of Sumatra island is close to one of the major shipping lanes, Strait of Malacca, and is an important area in promoting FOIP vision. JMSDF, maintaining and strengthening the vision with RAN and RCN, demonstrated the cooperation and unity among the three countries.
