Thank you for visiting the website of the Japan Peacekeeping Training and Research Center (JPC). I am Colonel KURITA, Director of the JPC.
@Since the enactment of the International Peace Cooperation Act (PKO Act) in 1992, Japan has contributed to international peace and stability by dispatching personnel to various regions around the world. These efforts have expanded beyond traditional peacekeeping activities to include conflict prevention, the prevention of conflict recurrence, humanitarian assistance, and the promotion of sustainable peacebuilding.
@Since its establishment in 2010, the Japan Peacekeeping Training and Research Center has been responsible for providing education and conducting research related to international peace cooperation. The Center delivers practical training not only for Japan Self-Defense Force personnel but also for officials from other government ministries and agencies, as well as military officers from foreign countries, fostering the exchange of diverse perspectives and experiences.
@In recent years, the participation of diverse individuals and the adoption of inclusive perspectives have become increasingly important in international peace cooperation activities. In particular, the United Nations' Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda is widely recognized as an essential element in achieving sustainable peace. At our Center, we are committed not only to promoting the participation of women but also to enhancing understanding of the importance of incorporating diverse perspectives into decision-making and organizational management. Through these efforts, we strive to develop professionals capable of meeting the evolving needs of the international community.
@As the environment surrounding international peace cooperation continues to change, we will further strengthen exchanges with overseas peacekeeping training centers and related institutions, participate actively in international conferences, and advance our research activities. These efforts will enable us to reflect the latest knowledge and best practices in our educational programs while contributing to the further development of international defense cooperation and exchanges.
@Going forward, we will continue to strengthen cooperation with partner organizations both in Japan and abroad, enhance the quality of our education and research activities, and contribute to the advancement of international peace cooperation. Main Career of Colonel KURITA
After graduating from the Faculty of Commerce at Doshisha University in 1997, Colonel Kurita joined the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). She served primarily in staff assignments in the fields of intelligence and defense policy and, in 2011, was deployed to the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT), where she gained firsthand experience in international peace cooperation activities.
@She subsequently held positions related to defense policy and defense planning at both the Joint Staff Office and the Ground Staff Office. Beginning in 2014, she served at NATO in Belgium, where she contributed to the promotion of multinational cooperation and international engagement.
@Following her return to Japan, she served as Chief of the Intelligence Division at the North Eastern Army Headquarters and Director of the Fourth Research Office at the Training Evaluation Research and Development Command. She later served as Commander of the 8th Air Defense Artillery Group and Commanding Officer of the Camp Aonogahara, where she was responsible for unit operations and personnel development. Subsequently, she served as Director of the General Coordination Office of the Education Department at the Training and Evaluation, Education, Research and Development Command. She assumed her current position in August 2026.
