P-3C maritime patrol aircrafts of Fleet Air Wing 2 conducted joint training with aircrafts of the JASDF, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Marine Corps

On January 27, 2023, P-3C maritime patrol aircraft from Fleet Air Wing 2 conducted joint training in the Sea of Japan with F-35A aircraft from the JASDF, P-8A patrol aircraft from the U.S. Navy, F-16 aircraft and E-3C early warning aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, and F-35B aircraft from the U.S. Marine Corps.
Through this exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened cooperation with the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. In this way, the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy work closely together to maintain and improve joint response capabilities to various contingencies. In addition, the JMSDF contributes to the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied navies.
