SDF CMC SASAKI Hidenori

I am Maritime Warrant Officer SASAKI Hidenori. On June 27, 2025, I had the great honor of succeeding my predecessor, Maritime Warrant Officer SHIMIZU Ken (then Chief Petty Officer), as the 10th Fleet Master Chief of Self-Defense Fleet.

Self-Defense Fleet comprises the Surface, Air and Submarine Forces, serving as the cornerstone of Japan’s maritime defense. Our officers and sailors stand watch around the clock, carrying out critical missions including reconnaissance, surveillance in domestic waters, and counter-piracy operations near the Gulf of Aden and Somalia. Following a significant reform, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force marked the end of Fleet Escort Force on March 23, 2026, after 65 years of service. In its place, Fleet Surface Force was established to strengthen our capabilities. To remain strong as a unified team in the face of a rapidly changing environment, the Command Master Chiefs of the units in Self-Defense Fleet will work in solidarity, applying flexible ideas and ingenuity to establish the necessary posture for accomplishing our missions.

My thoughts are with our officers and sailors who train and serve tirelessly, as well as their families, whose unwavering support is crucial. I am committed to fostering units that instill pride in serving Self-Defense Fleet. Additionally, I will work closely with the Command Master Chiefs to achieve our goals.

Finally, I appreciate your continued understanding and support.
