Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet held the first Japan-U.S. Flag Talk with Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet

On January 26, Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, Admiral SAITO Akira, held his first Flag Talk with Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet, Vice Admiral Karl Thomas at the Maritime Operations Center.
During this meeting, the Commanders had a lively exchange about the bilateral relationship. They shared lessons learned from past Joint / Bilateral exercises and discussed how to build upon them to strengthen cooperation for dealing with any contingencies.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains responsiveness, safeguards the peace and defense of Japan, continues to integrate with allied and friendly navies and contributes to the stability in the Indo-Pacific region in order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
