JS KIRISAME conducted a multilateral exercise with the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy

From 4 October to 8 , 2nd Surface unit of Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) unit, JS KIRISAME conducted a multilateral exercise with USS MILIUS, USS HIGGINS, HMAS HOBART, HMAS ARUNTA, HMAS STALWART and HMCS WINNIPEG in the South China Sea.
The Commanding Officer of JS KIRISAME, CDR SAKATA Atsushi said, “Through practical exercise including anti-submarine war exercise, we improved our tactical capabilities and interoperability between the JMSDF, the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy and we promoted cooperative relationship of Japan-U.S.-Australian-Canadian naval forces in order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
Through multilateral exercise, the Self-Defense Fleet, together with the naval forces of participating countries, defends maritime order based on the rule of law, addresses global challenges and contributes to the stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
