JS KIRISAME participated in multinational exercise sponsored by the Royal Australian Navy

From September 12 to 26, the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) unit, JS KIRISAME, participated in a multinational exercise sponsored by the Royal Australian Navy in the vicinity of Darwin.
The Commanding Officer of JS KIRISAME, Commander SAKATA Atsushi, said, “Through our participation in this multilateral exercise, we have improved its tactical skills, strengthened cooperation with the participating navies, and deepened mutual understanding. Japan and Australia share universal values and cooperate closely including security cooperation, to resolve various challenges, facing the Indo-Pacific region and the international community. Japan-Australia naval forces have contributed to strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the defense of Japan, as well as the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and friendly navies.
