JS IZUMO and JS TAKANAMI conducted a Japan-India maritime bilateral exercise “JIMEX2022”

From September 11 to 17, the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) unit, JS IZUMO and JS TAKANAMI conducted a bilateral exercise “JIMEX2022” with INS RANVIJAY, INS SAHYADRI, INS KADMATT, INS KAVARATTI, INS SUKANYA, INS JYOTI, Submarine, MIG-29K, DORNIER-228 from the Andaman Sea to the Bay of Bengal to improve our tactical capabilities and interoperability with the Indian Navy.
The Commanding Officer of Escort Flotilla 4, RADM HIRATA Toshiyuki, who served as the Japanese Commander for this exercise, said, “Japan and India share universal values as well as common interests in the peace, stability, and the prosperity of Asia and the world, and have established the “Special strategic and Global Partnership”. It is very meaningful that we were able to conduct a bilateral exercise with the Indian Navy in order to improve our ability to jointly deal with global issues.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the defense of Japan, as well as realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with friendly navies.
