JS HAGURO conducted the Japan-US-Australia-Korea-Canada Missile Defense Exercise (PACIFIC DRAGON 2022)

From 8 to 14 August, JS HAGURO conducted the Japan-US-Australia-Korea-Canada Missile Defense Exercise (PACIFIC DRAGON 2022) with U.S.Navy USS FITZGERALD, USS WILLIAM P LAWRENCE, F/A-18F, Royal Australian Navy HMAS SYDNEY, Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy ROKS SEJONG DAEWANG and Royal Canadian Navy HMCS VANCOUVER in vicinity of Hawaii.
In addition to detecting and tracking ballistic missile targets and simulating the launch of an interceptor missile, the exercise also included a coupled data communication system exercise among the three countries, Japan, the U.S., and the ROK.
Through this exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities in ballistic missile defense and strengthened cooperation with the participating countries toward the realization of “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive, continue to integrate with allied and friendly navies, safeguards the peace and security of Japan, and contributes to the stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
