IPD22 unit JS KIRISAME conducted a Japan-U.S.-Solomon goodwill exercise and a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise

The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) unit JS KIRISAME called at Honiara in the Solomon Islands from August 6 to 8, and through various goodwill exchange events, sought to build trust with the country.
On August 8, JS KIRISAME conducted a Japan-U.S.-Solomon goodwill exercise with RSIPV TARO and USS OAKLAND and a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS OAKLAND in vicinity of Solomon Islands.
Through the exercises, JS KIRISAME improved its tactical skills, deepened friendship and mutual understanding with the Solomon Islands Maritime Police, improved interoperability between JMSDF and U.S. Navy. We conducted our first-time exercise with the Solomon Islands.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness, contributing to the defense of Japan and the maintenance of maritime order based on law, as well as stability in the Indo-Pacific region with the U.S. Navy and friendly Navies to realize a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
