IPD22 unit JS IZUMO and JS TAKANAMI conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USNS PECOS

On August 7, the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) unit JS IZUMO and JS TAKANAMI conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise in vicinity of Hawaii with USNS PECOS to improve its tactical skills and interoperability with the U.S. Navy.
This exercise helped maintain and improve the ability of the U.S. and Japanese naval supply forces interchangeably conduct replenishments at sea.
The Self-Defense Fleet remains ready to work with U.S. Navy in order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” safeguard the peace and security of Japan, and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
