JS KIRISAME (Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022 (IPD22) force) departed from Japan

On July 5, JS KIRISAME, one of the units of the Indo-Pacific Deployment Force, departed from Sasebo base.
JS KIRISAME acts as the Second Surface Unit separately from Escort Flotilla Four's First Surface Unit assets JS IZUMO and JS TAKANAMI. JS KIRISAME plans to conduct port calls at more than 10 countries, including ports in the Pacific Rim, and perform a number of goodwill exercise and joint exercise. Through these exercises, The Self-Defense Fleet will improve its tactical skills, as well as strengthen cooperation, and enhance mutual understanding with the navies of each country. Additionally, The Self-Defense Fleet will also ensure the safety of maritime traffic in the Indo-Pacific region and contribute to the prosperity of the international community.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region the defense of Japan, as well as realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and friendly navies.
