Inspection of the Maritime Operations Center and JS KUMANO by Chair of the Military Committee of NATO

On June 8, VADM YUASA Hideki, Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, received an inspection of the Maritime Operations Center and the newest frigate JS KUMANO by ADM Robert BAUER, Chair of the Military Committee of NATO.
In the overview briefing, summarized the security situation surrounding Japan and shared our understanding that the Self Defense Fleet conduct a seamless surveillance mission for defense of Japan and the anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden to protect the order of the seas, and agreed to continue strengthening defense cooperation and exchanges with NATO in order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
The Self-Defense Fleet will maintain its readiness and work closely with the NATO member country Navies to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” based on the rule of law, and strive to maintain maritime order and contribute to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
