The Joint Self-Defense Force Exercises for 2021

Since November 19, the Self-Defense Fleet has been participating in the FY2021 Joint Self-Defense Force Exercises.
In this exercise, the SDF is practicing amphibious operations and integrated missile air defense operations with JGSDF and JASDF units to maintain and improve joint operational capabilities. In addition, the SDF exercises integrated anti-shipping operations with U.S. and other SDF units to maintain and improve joint operational capabilities and interoperability with U.S. forces.
The Self-Defense Fleet not only maintains the strength and readiness of its forces and takes responsibility for the defense of Japan based on the strong Japan-U.S. alliance, but also contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region by constantly working together with allied and friendly navies toward the realization of a “free and open Indo-Pacific.”
