IPD21 force conducted joint training with the Sri Lanka Navy and made a port call in Colombo, Sri Lanka

October 4, IPD21 unit JS KAGA conducted joint training with Sri Lanka Navy's patrol vessel SLNS Sagara in the waters around Colombo. Prior to the training, they also made a port call in Colombo, Sri Lanka from October 2 to 4. The Commanding Officer of IPD21 force, the Commander of Flotilla 3, RADM IKEUCHI Izuru, stated, “We conducted a bilateral exercise “JA-LAN EX” with the Sri Lanka Navy and strengthened cooperation after a call at the port of Colombo, a key traffic hub in the Indian Ocean. The deployment force will continue to work with allied and friendly navies in order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” Despite COVID-19, The Self-Defense Fleet makes full use of the characteristics of the naval force, flexibility and mobility, promotes cooperative relationship with friendly countries, and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
