JMSDF conducted joint training with USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group

September 18 to October 1, JS CHOKAI, JS KIRISHIMA, JS IKAZUCHI and JS YAMAGIRI conducted joint training with USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group in the waters south of Okinawa to South China Sea, enhanced deterrence and response capabilities based on the Japan-U.S. alliance.
The Commanding Officer of Escort Division 1, CAPT Horikawa Yuji stated, “I feel very honored to have been able to work with USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group, deployed in the waters around Japan. In this training, we enhanced our tactical skills and interoperability between the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy. We will continue to act together with the U.S. Navy, respond against various contingencies.
Despite COVID-19, the Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and integrates with the U.S. Navy based on the strong Japan-U.S. alliance in order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, safeguards the peace and security of Japan, and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
