IPD21 force the multi-lateral training “MALABAR2021”

August 26-29, IPD21 force, composed of JS KAGA, JS MURASAME and JS SIRANUI, conducted the multi-lateral training “MALABAR2021” in the Philippine Sea with USS Barry, USNS Yukon, INS Shivalik, INS Kadmatt, HMAS Warramunga and antisubmarine aircrafts from JMSDF, the U.S. and the Indian Navy, to enhance our tactical skills and cooperation with the participating navies.
This was the first large-scale training exercise for the unit, which conducted advanced tactical training such as anti-submarine warfare and embodied the strong unity of the Japan-U.S. -India-Australia (commonly known as the “Quad”).
Despite COVID-19, The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and strength, integrates with allied and partner navies in order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region and, by extension, the international community.
