JS MAKINAMI participated in the Large-Scale Global Exercise 2021 with the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Navy

From August 2-8, JS MAKINAMI participated in the Combined Joint Battle Problem as part of the Large-Scale Global Exercise 2021 in the west pacific with the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.
The Commanding Officer of Escort Division 1, CAPT HIRAI Katsuhide, stated, “This exercise was a counterattack-style exercise between the JMSDF, the U.S. Navy (USN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and included practical, high-end situation training such as smooth communication in joint combat and joint anti-surface attacks, which enabled us to enhance our tactical skills and strengthen our joint operational capabilities with the participants. I hope this multi-lateral exercise with the USN and RAN, which are strong partners in the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, will contribute to support stability in the region.”
Despite COVID-19, The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and integrates with allied and partner countries, safeguards the peace and security of Japan, and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
