JS MAKINAMI made a port call in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

From July 31- August 1, JS MAKINAMI, participated in the multi-lateral training “Talisman Sabre 21&rdquo, made a port call in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea where it received a warm welcome.
The Commanding Officer of Escort Division 1, CAPT HIRAI Katsuhide, stated, “I am very honored to visit in Port Moresby with the Commander of Papua New Guinea Force, Major General Toropo, Assistant Commander, Captain Asari, Chief of Staff, LtCol Vogae. This visit is to foster Japan's ongoing friendship with PNG. JMSDF ship made a port of call in PNG when we get a chance, and it is also an opportunity to hold an open dialogue between the two countries for future military exchange programs. I hope this port of call will realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and contribute to support stability in the region.
Despite COVID-19, The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and integrates with allied and partner countries, safeguards the peace and security of Japan, and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
