Visit of the Maritime Operations Center by the Ambassador of Djibouti in Japan

On July 20, VADM YUASA Hideki, Commander of the Self-Defense Fleet, received a courtesy call at the Maritime Operations Center from H.E. Mr Ahmed Araita Ali, the Ambassador of Djibouti in Japan, before returning to Djibouti.
At the meeting, VADM YUASA expressed our appreciation for the Djibouti government's understanding and support for the counter-piracy operations being conducted by the Self-Defense Fleet, and we agreed on further strengthening relations between Japan and Djibouti, and the importance of a free and open ocean based on the law.
The Republic of Djibouti is located in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden, which is a major artery of world trade connecting Europe and Asia. Since the start of operations in 2009, JMSDF destroyers and patrol aircrafts have been engaged day and night in vigilant surveillance and ship escort activities to maintain order on the important maritime transportation routes that support the global economy.
The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive, safeguards the peace and security of Japan and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
