A courtesy call from the new Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet

On July 13, VADM YUASA Hideki, Commander of the Self-Defense Fleet, received a courtesy call from VADM Karl Thomas, the new Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet, at the Maritime Operations Center.
At the meeting, we confirmed the security environment in the Indo-Pacific region, including the area around Japan, agreed to continue and further strengthen efforts to increase interoperability between naval forces so that Japan and the U.S. can respond to various challenges with deterrence and response based on our alliance.
The Self-Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the 7th Fleet, from the commander to the staff and unit level, and act together to maintain ready to immediately respond against any contingencies, safeguards the peace and security of Japan and contributes to support stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
