CARAT (Cooperation Afloat Readiness And Training) is an annual training event conducted by the U.S. Navy with South and Southeast Asian navies since 1995 to strengthen partnership and promote maritime security cooperation. The JMSDF, together with the U.S. Navy and friendly navies, is building relationships between regional navies and enhancing maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Despite COVID-19, the Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and integrates with allied and friendly navies and contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
