Escort Flotilla 1 conducted bilateral exercise with USS Mustin

From Jun 23-24, Escort Flotilla 1 conducted bilateral exercise in the waters south of Kanto with USS Mustin.
The Commanding Officer of Escort Flotilla 1, RADM KOMUTA Shukaku, stated, “From the JMSDF, JS MAYA, JS HAGURO, JS KIRISHIMA and JS TOKIWA participated in this training, and various tactical exercises were conducted mainly with the Aegis system-equipped destroyers. Through such high-end training, we enhanced our tactical skills and increased Japan-U.S. interoperability. We have also heard that USS Mustin will soon be released from deployment at Yokosuka Base. It will be sad to see our friends who have been with us for so many years leave, but I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for their contribution to the defense of our country over the past 15 years.”
Despite COVID-19, the Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and improves deterrence based on the Japan-U.S. alliance, safeguard the peace and security of Japan and contribute to support stability.
