JS YUGIRI as the 39^th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement begins to advance

On Jun 19, JS YUGIRI as the 39^th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement, commanded by CDR KUMASHIRO Takeshi, departed from Yokosuka port on June 5 and began advancing into Gulf of Aden and Somali waters after completing a stopping period related to COVID-19 in the waters around Japan and confirming that all crew were not infected.
After advancing, JS YUGIRI will replace with the 38^th DSPE JS SETOGIRI, engage in escorting merchant ships and multi-lateral exercise with navies of various countries.
Despite COVID-19, the Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and deepen the cooperative relationship through these various deployment activities and multi-lateral exercise events, contributes to support stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
