Landing Ship Division 1 conducted bilateral exercise with Amphibious Squadron (COMPHIBRON) 11 of the U.S. Navy

From Jun 12-13, Landing Ship Division 1, JS SHIMOKITA conducted bilateral exercise in the waters east of Okinawa with Amphibious Squadron (COMPHIBRON) 11 of the U.S. Navy, USS America, USS New Orleans and USS Germantown.
The Commanding Officer of Landing Ship Division 1, CAPT MATSUMI Toshinori, who served as the Japanese Commander for this training, stated, “In this exercise, various training were conducted, such as cross-decking by Japan-U.S. LCACs and landing of U.S. Navy's MV-22 Osprey on the JS SHIMOKITA, in order to improve our amphibious operations capability and enhance interchangeability between JMSDF and U.S. Navy. COMPHIBRON 11 of the U.S. Navy is a strong fellow engaged in the mission of amphibious operations, and we strengthened our joint operational capability.”
Despite COVID-19, the Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and integrate with the U.S. Navy, safeguard the peace and security of Japan and contribute to support stability in the region based on our strong alliance.
