Student officers learn international strategic environment and enhance the relationships with neighboring and related countries through overseas study tours.
On study tours, they visit headquarters of major military commands, military bases, and staff colleges or defense universities.

Field Study to India

One of the Delegation Groups of the 19th Joint Advanced Course with 28 students headed by Vice Commandant, MG Ogasawara, and by Chief of Second Instructors office, COL Nishijima visited India for an overseas field study from the 1st to the 6th of November 2015.
   It has been 3 years since our 13th Joint Advanced Course visited India last.
   The delegation could understand about the Indiafs commitment to national defense, Indian Armed Forcesf operation as well as current states through various briefings and Q&A sessions.

Field Study to Germany

One of the Delegation Groups of the 19th Joint Advanced Course headed by Commandant, LTG Takahashi, and by Chief of First Instructors office, CAPT Tanaka visited Germany for an overseas field study from the 8th to the 13th of November 2015.
   It is the first time for the Joint Staff College to visit Germany, and the delegation could deepen their understanding about the German Armed Forcesf current situation, its national defense reform, its relations between German Armed Forces and NATO / EU as well as its cooperative situation with the nations concerned, through various briefings and Q&A sessions.
   At the request of Federal Armed Forces Command and Staff College ( Hamburg ), one instructor from Joint Staff College briefed its students (from NATO and EU member countries) on South China Sea, and as a result, they interacted with its student officers, through active Q&A sessions.
