A Message from the Commandant

I assumed the 44th Commandant of Joint Staff College as of August 5th 2014.

As the current security environment surrounding Japan is growing severe, the National Security Strategy was formulated at the end of last year in accordance with the National Defense Program Guidelines. The Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) are highly expected to play more diverse roles to embody the Japan’s proactive contribution to peace based on the principles of international cooperation.
　Now, in the arena of joint operation, “joint-ness” is being enhanced from the stage of building mind and spirit to “the premise of all employment.”

　The highest educational institute of the JSDF, the Joint Staff College, provides the education and training for senior executive officers of all services. Serving the pillar of joint operational structure, our graduates have been playing active parts as commanding officers or senior staff officers in major command headquarters.
　Our college is also working on researches in new subjects related to joint operation in response to the changing situation, and the significance of research is more and more increasing.

　I am determined to devote myself to achieve our missions, and further develop and promote training of senior executive officers, and researching on joint operation, as we keep sharply looking at the latest frontiers.

Last but not least, I would like to politely ask your continued understanding and cooperation for the Joint Staff College.
